Natural Resource Recovery Group
NRRG approached me in the summer of 2008 and requested a much-needed upgrade to their web presence. Five pages of static content was all they required, so I worked hard to transform their basic informational site into something quite unique. Upon completion, the NRRG representative I corresponded with on the project was very pleased with the results.
Features
No fancy functionality here, other than a seamless CSS-based graphical navigation system. The graphic design itself was the most intensive part of site development.

C3Metro
You don't get much more urban than C3Metro, an unusual church that owns and operates out of a hip urban-style café in the heart of downtown Edmonton. Artistic black-and-white images populate every page, and the funky urban design was quite fun to build.
Features
The main feature of this website is the design itself. I worked very closely with this client to achieve his vision for the site, and my efforts were met with great success.
Please note that this client has been performing their own updates, sometimes with less-than-professional results. Therefore, the link below will send you to an archived version of the site as it looked when I completed work on it.

Zen Music - A CSS Zen Garden Design
A music-themed design I created as a submission for CSS Zen Garden.
Features
The visual design is the central feature of this piece. As per the rules of CSS Zen Garden, I created this design around the supplied HTML template by altering only the CSS. (For more information, please visit www.csszengarden.com.)

Increase Your Territory 4
The biggest challenge with the IYTE website was packing a huge amount of information into limited navigation space. Adapting and displaying the content in a user-friendly manner was a huge part of this project. (As a side note, the graphics in the left-hand column were adapted from the event's promotional material and were not created by me; however, I did create the large Canada graphic at the top of the page.)
Features
- JavaScript-powered ad banners
- integrated Flash elements to add interactivity and interest (see How To Register and Become A Sponsor! pages)
- effective front-page SEO
- prior to the event itself, the site contained three registration forms and one email contact form (powered by Wufoo); the registration forms have since been replaced with a message saying that the event has passed

Virtual DVD Shelf
Virtual DVD Shelf is a PHP/MySQL-powered catalog application. I designed it to catalog my personal DVD collection and the categories are tailored to my own interests, but the functionality contained within could be adapted to catalog almost anything. The data is searchable, is easily filtered, and incorporates audio and visual media as well as text-based data.
Features
- each piece of unique data is displayed in dynamic filter menus
- each piece of categorical data on the display page is a link that performs a filter
- thumbnails are automatically generated for uploaded movie art; no pre-formatting is required
- artwork is retained at its original size and is viewable via an implementation of Lightbox
- up to five .mp3 sound clips may be uploaded for each DVD entry
- audio clips begin playing instantly when their links are clicked; no new pages, popup windows or plugins (other than Flash) are required
- full search capabilities

Courtney's Circa 1982
This site is a Flash AS3/XML-based web application I created to catalog the hand-made cards that my incredibly talented wife creates in her spare time. The application itself is fast, slick, and very, very purple. (Courtney loves the color purple.)
Features
- visually appealing display animations are used throughout
- large images are pre-loaded in the background to allow for optimal performance
- content is loaded from an external XML data file
